Our staff at the front desk are happy to answer questions you have regarding your library account but you can also use the online catalog to check the status of holds and return dates, change your library pin, access your reading history, and more by logging into your account.
A Note From Library Director, Crystal Middleton
Greetings Elting Community!
There are a lot of great things happening in September. Firstly, you are invited to join us for the Library Fair on Saturday, 9/27 and Sunday, 9/28. There are more details on our website (below) but this is a final call for book donations. This weekend is the last chance to donate books at the book shed. Toys, jewelry, and plant donations continue. Have a look at the library fair webpage for more details about how you can help www.eltinglibrary.org/fair.
Keep an eye out for library staff making community stops throughout the month for Library Card Sign Up Month. It is a national effort to get library cards into the hands of our community, and an invitation to get involved at your library. Let your friends and neighbors know that they should stop by this month to get their library card. There is something for everyone at Elting!
Finally, a save the date: in October, the library will be celebrating its 105th anniversary! The library first opened at 93 Main Street in October of 1920. So this is not quite a centennial celebration because the pandemic meant that 2020 events were put off. So we will be celebrating with Piecing Together: Library Stories From Our Community with a commemorative, community-created quilt. You can take part and start working on your own quilt square. First, pick up a base square, requirements and entry form at the front desk. We can't wait to see what you create!

We’re in it to win it for our community! Please help us by donating canned/boxed foods and personal hygiene items. Check out our list of recommended items by clicking here.

Serving New Paltz for Over 100 Years
In 1909, members of the New Paltz Study Club were the first to realize the need for a free library association in the village of New Paltz. Seven women from the club formed a committee and opened a reading room on the second floor of the building at 60-62 Main Street.
The Study Club assumed the expenses and hired Miss Flora Schoonmaker as librarian. It wasn’t long before the library outgrew it’s first home on Main Street and the search for a new building began.
Your donation helps us provide many of our services, programs, resources, and collections to the community. We could not do this without your support.
