69th Annual Library Fair

Stop by our food booth for burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, apple cider donuts, ice cream, drinks, and more. All proceeds support the Library!

We have a very exciting musical line-up and wish to thank all the performers for generously donating their time and talents to benefit the Elting Memorial Library and for helping to make the Fair such a special event for the New Paltz community.

9-10: Jim Bacon

Jim is a town justice, triathlete, and classically trained guitarist who has played throughout the Hudson Valley.  He has generously donated his musical talents to the Library Fair for many years, and we are very lucky to have him back to open up the fair for us this year!

10-11: Steve Raleigh

Steve is a world-class guitarist, composer, arranger, producer, and music educator with "a brilliant sense of melody," per Guitar World magazine.  To listen to Steve's music and find out more, visit https://steveraleigh.com/

11-12: Dandy Lions

A not-to-be-missed brother and sister duo whose music features soul searching pop melodies and punchy folk rock sounds. Listen to their latest album “Under the Walnut Tree" at https://dandylionsinthedollhouse.bandcamp.com/

12-1: John O’Connell

John is an area musician and songwriter who has performed in numerous bands over the years. He is making his first appearance at the Library Fair. 

1-2: Rob Johnson

Rob is an area musician who plays regularly throughout the Hudson Valley. He first performed at the Library Fair in 2025, and we are delighted to have him back this year. Find more by visiting his website: https://treble-ahead.com

2-3: Stephen Bergstein

Steve is a member of the Elting Library Board of Trustees and has played at the Library Fair since 2024. When he is not practicing law, he is rehearsing for the next open mic. 

Kids will be able to play the Lollipop game, draw and jump through a hopscotch board, get their face painted, and learn how to make a balloon animal, and enjoy a rock painting station!

All of this fun is being provided by the library’s teen volunteers.

Friday

Work alongside SUNY Athletics volunteers moving book boxes from the shed out to the book tents, placing them on the labeled tables according to the categories on the boxes. Once the shed is unloaded, return the empty boxes with their fitted lids from the tables back to the shed, stacking them as directed back inside the shed. 

Friday

Spread out among the labeled tables to unpack books as boxes of them are brought out, arranging books on tables by category, spines up, so that titles are visible and facing the same way. Emptied boxes need their correct lids replaced on them, and then they should be placed on the far side of the railing that leads up to the library for their return to the bookshed after setup. 

Saturday/Sunday

Two cashiers/baggers work as a team dividing up the tasks of totaling the amount due, taking payment, getting ID for checks, making change, and bagging the books.

Saturday/Sunday
Keep all book tables and shelves neat, stocked, and organized, consolidating sections as books get sold. Answer customer questions and bring things to and from cashier stations as needed.

The final shift on Sunday includes helping box up our remaining books.

Assist in working at the jewelry tent. Volunteers will help browsers and keep the display of jewelry neat, stocked and inviting.

Assist in working at the plant tent. Volunteers will collect money, help browsers, and keep the display of plants neat and inviting.

Volunteers ages 18 and older are needed to sell tickets at the main raffle table and at satellite stations. These will be two-hour shifts from 9 AM to 3 PM

Assist in working the toy booth. Volunteers will collect money, help browsers, and keep the display of toys neat and inviting.

Volunteers are also needed to sort and price toys during the month of September. Days and hours are flexible.
